센서는 사람이 감각기관을 통해 주위 환경이나 대상을 인지하는 것처럼 기계나 로봇이 주위 환경을 인지하게 한다. 센서가 인지하는 방식은 온도, 터치, 움직임 등 다양한 방법이 있다.

Sensors allow machines or robots to perceive the surrounding environment as sensory organs allow people to perceive the surrounding environment or objects. There are various ways sensors perceive, such as by temperature, touch and movement.
