소리의 세기는 오실로스코프와 같은 기구를 이용하여 측정가능하다. 소리의 세기는 dB(데시벨)로 나타낸다. 소리의 세기는 진폭으로 나타나며 진폭이 클수록 큰소리, 진폭이 작을 수록 낮은 소리이다.

The loudness of sound can be measured using devices such as the oscilloscope. It is indicated by dB (decibel). The loudness of sound is shown by amplitude, great amplitude indicating loud sounds and small amplitude indicating quieter sounds.
