거울에 비친 자신의 모습(상)을 보는 것은 자신의 위치에서 거울까지의 거리가 같고 크기가 같은 허상을 보는 것이다. 여기에서는 거울 면 뒤에 나타난 자신의 허상과 같은 위치에 친구의 이미지가 겹쳐서 나타나는 현상을 관찰하는 것이다.

When you see your own image in a mirror, you are seeing an illusion that appears to be at the same distance behind the mirror surface and of the same size as yourself. Here, you observe your illusion, appearing behind the mirror, and the image of your friend, standing at the same location as your illusion, overlapping.
