왜 그럴까요?
Why?

원통을 회전시키면서 틈새를 통하여 보면 그려진 물체가 움직이는 것처럼 보이고 속도가 빨라지면 더 부드러운 동작이 관찰된다. 물체를 바라보면 뇌에 그 물체의 모습이 그대로 그려지는데 물체가 사라지거나 눈을 감아 볼 수 없게 되어도 잠시 동안 뇌에 그 물체의 모습이 남아있게 된다. 이러한 현상을 잔상이라고 하며 우리가 흔히 보는 영화나 텔레비전도 잔상 현상을 이용한 것이다.

Seeing through the gaps while the cylinder is rotating makes the drawn object look as if it is moving and you can observe smoother movements when the cylinder is rotated faster. When we look at an object, it is perceived as it is by the brain, and the image of the object remains for a moment, even after the object disappears or the eyes are closed. This phenomenon is called afterimage and the movies and television shows we commonly see use this.
