Why?

퇴적물 입자의 크기가 밑에서 위로 갈수록 작아지는 층리 현상을 관찰 할 수 있다. 입자의 크기에 따라 가라앉는 속도가 다르기 때문에 입자가 큰 것은 아래층에, 입자가 작은 것은 위에 놓이게 된다.

Stratification, the phenomenon in which the size of the sediment particles become smaller towards the top, can be observed. Since the speed of sinking differs according to the size of the particles, the big particles go to the bottom and the smaller particles go to the top.
